La Ropa de Hoy #6

Today was one of those days at school where I felt like dressing up for no reason.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This was only maybe the second time I have ever worn heels to school... The dogs were barking by 6th period.

This was an experience to wear... somewhere between 5 and 10 guys creeped on me! One pack of them just stared at me, and one wanted me to sit down at their table... Yikes.

Still, though, I enjoyed myself... but I'm looking forward to flats tomorrow!

I'm wearing:

- Black V-neck t-shirt from Target
- Navy and red stripe skirt from Forever 21
- Navy polka dot shrug from Forever 21
- Black heels from Shi
- Blue feather earrings from Forever 21 (I think my hair covers them in every photo)
- Black headband from the grocery store hairbrush aisle

La Ropa de Hoy #5

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Today was the first day of school... First days of school are always significant but almost entirely pointless, making them a perfect time to dress up. Unfortunately I couldn't get ANY good pictures.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm wearing:

- Old black flats from Target (not shown)
- Jean leggings from Forever 21 - loving these!
- Navy heart print dress from Forever 21
- Grey blazer from Forever 21 - SO surprisingly soft and comfy, with pretty blue lining. I wish it were a little more fitted, but I can't complain.
- AMAZING black door knocker earrings by Betsey Johnson
- Class ring (always).

Makeup... Same as last post, except I used both the NYC liquid liner from before in tandem with a Covergirl liner pen. The pen helps for getting smooth, non-smudging or transferring lines across the lash line, but it can't do a taper worth crap, which is with the NYC liner brush comes in. I really want to keep wearing makeup like this, but during school it means waking up earlier- so we'll see what happens. Other than that, all that's different is using orange eye shadow instead of purple (same palette).

Next fashion conquest: I need a watch. The classroom clocks in my school are completely, inexplicably wrong probably 9 times out of 10, and I don't want to spend the year fumbling for my phone to sneakily check how much longer I have in the period.

La Ropa de Hoy #4

Photobucket

I wore this to get lunch with friends at Panera... no doubt the last time I'll hang out with anyone before school starts on Wednesday.

I'm wearing:

- Old black flats from Target
- Flower print shorts from JCPenney
- Lime green tank from JCPenney
- White beads and white rose earrings from Claire's (don't judge me)
- Black and white purse by... who knows? I ordered it off of Amazon.

Makeup:

- Rimmel concealer
- Maybelline Pure liquid foundation
- Rimmel liquid eyeliner
- Cheap purple eyeshadow from Claire's
- Wet N' Wild mascara
- Covergirl pressed powder
- Lancome lipgloss (gift from a friend). I think it might be too much with the strong eye makeup...

I'm having a love/hate relationship with this outfit... It's a little more in-your-face than most stuff I wear, so I feel a little ridiculous... But, considering I was going to try and wear my hair in an afro today, I look pretty normal.

La Ropa de Hoy #3

This post is quite overdue - this outfit is actually from November 22nd.

I wore this to go to church with my boyfriend (!) and later walk 2.3 miles through the city, making frequent stops in peculiar locales - such as the Kroger pictured here.

Unfortunately, this outfit was such that I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to center the neckline... As my boyfriend captured, here.

I would be remiss is I didn't point out how intense this Kroger is. Look at all that stuff in the background! Since when does Kroger have FURNITURE?

ANYWAY! I'm wearing:

- Lia Sophia necklace (it's so versatile!)
- Lotus print tunic from Forever 21. I'm in love with this despite the neckline issues and the huge arm holes.
- Zebra trench coat from Forever 21. One of the only bad things about this coat is how needlessly long the tie is - as you can see, I tucked it into the pockets.
- Shiny black leggings - the "catwoman pants" - from Target.
- Lime green sandals that I'm pretty sure I purchased from a grocery store three years ago for a wedding...

My feelings on this outfit changed periodically throughout the day - my boyfriend had to assure me I did not look like a hooker, and compared it to what movie stars wear to the mall. I suppose that's a good thing. The shoes were not a wise decision for the 2.3 mile walk in the least, but I don't regret it a bit.

And speaking of Target, I have a bonus for this post:

After I tried this dress on for fun, my boyfriend bought it for me against my will. I seriously spent quite a long time ranting at him for being too nice. I'm a lucky girl.

La Ropa De Hoy #2

Yesterday was significantly less fabulous than I wanted it to be. As it was, however, it involved church, greasy Chinese food, and finding purple skinny jeans in my size at Target for $10.

It was hard getting good photos, but at least the Target dressing room gets the job done! Anyway, I wore:

- Black tunic from Forever 21 with the jacket always on because it somehow develop a hole near the arm opening. Forever 21 makes beautiful clothes, but the quality seems really iffy a lot of the time.
- Aforementioned tan leather jacket, originally from Banana Republic - I got it for FREE from a friend who was leaving the country.
- Old fish necklace that I found at an antique store. Everywhere I go, people freak out over this, think it's awesome, and play with it.
- Brown skinny jeans from Delia's.
- Tweed heels with topaz-tone jewels. I've had these since I was about 12 or 13, I remember my brother and father claiming my ankles wobbled when I walked in them. Somehow, I don't think that's the case anymore.
- Same white purse from Wal-Mart.

Couldn't resist this shot... If only that zit weren't there!

La Ropa de Hoy #1

So, I like clothes a lot. I like taking pictures a lot. Naturally, I love when bloggers do outfit posts (I'm addicted to galadarling). I also really like throwing around my minimal knowledge of spanish. Therefore, get used to these posts.

This is what I wore for an ordinary schoolday at the end of a crappy week and to go see a friend perform in a play. It's been kind of a crap week, and I thought dressing up would improve my morale - it worked - this outfit was a hit everywhere today.

This is probably the first time I've ever shown leg outside of gym class at school, and it was an interesting experience. Fortunately, I think I managed not to flash anyone. So, let's break this down:

- Black medallion pendant from Lia Sophia
- Glasses, because I didn't want to take the time to put in contacts this morning! Every minute of sleep counts when you're getting up early to take the school bus..
- Generic red tank purchased from a T.J Maxx ages ago
- Black and white gingham shirt from Forever 21
- Black ruffle mini skirt from Forever 21 which I bought two years ago for a mime costume. This is only the third time I've ever worn it.
- Red Chuck Taylors. These are pretty much all I have ever worn to school, because I don't want to changes shoes for gym. These shoes have increased the amount of red in my wardrobe, just because I want them to match.

For a fabulous night of Chipotle and high school theater, I switched to this:

- Completely fabulous zebra print trench coat from Forever 21.
- Red beads from Claire's.
- White purse from Wal-mart. (I love the look, and it holds my school supplies, but the quality level is such that you can tell it's from Wal-mart. I'm not sure how long this will last.)
- Shiny black leggings - "catwoman pants" - from Target.
- Still red Chucks.

One of my friends said this coat makes me look like a referee... I'm not buying it.

Excellent start to my weekend!
