"I Met You Before The Fall Of Rome."

Saturday marks my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. This is quite an event. I have only had one previous relationship, which collapsed just shy of a mere two months.
The main focus of our festivities is going on a picnic together. Though I intend to thoroughly photograph and share the experience, I used Polyvore to approximate my clothing choices in advance.

The white dress might seem a questionable choice for an outdoor date... But, my boy assures he will bring many blankets to sit on, so I'm hoping it works out.

As an aside, the lace straps of the dress required me to finally purchase a decent adhesive strapless bra, which I have been wanting for ages. I used to see them advertised in JCPenney catalogs for upwards for $60; fortunately, I found one at Target for $25. I gave it a test run on Sunday and I'm pretty excited about it. The separate cups are a little difficult to properly place, and it definitely adds a feeling of heaviness to your chest, but I think there's just a learning curve.

So, what would you wear on a picnic date?

Shopping high

A while ago, I ordered this from Forever 21 online:

One way or another, it seemed like a great idea at the time. It was unusual but attractive, and there were a few different ways I could wear it based off of what was already in my wardrobe. From the time I ordered it, I began to doubt myself, thinking perhaps it was too strange.

Well, when it came in the mail, it was a trainwreck. I don't know how much of this is because of its construction, or how much of it is my body simply not agreeing with the design, but what I saw in the mirror was a frumpy mess with a collar that wouldn't stay in place for anything. Seriously, the collar was a big problem: if I bent over, everyone in the room would get a free show.

So tonight, I went to an actual store location and collected a nice chunk of credit for it, which I immediately spent on this skirt I'd been eyeing:

This picture does not do it justice. I am absolutely in love with this skirt, and I want to wear it as soon as possible - but I'm afraid to set a stressful precedent of dressing too nicely at school! And the wonderful thing is, I own at least 3-4 pairs of shoes that will match it perfectly.

I also picked up a plain black t-shirt like I've been needing for a while, leaving a useless $1.70 on my store credit card. However, I don't think anyone wants to see a picture of that. :)
